Ronnie,

I wish to give you good news regarding Podiatry.

Because of my involvement in writing posts on "the Podiatry Forum for Students and Doctors", many doctors new in practice have Emailed me asking me practice management questions. It did not take long for my to realize that the average Doctor that I mentor knows very little about the business side of Podiatry and he/she has a student loan payment of about $1500.

Although Brian does not want any publicity regarding this, Brian was the driving force behind the "Video Conferencing" that we are currently testing. We use an Italian ISP as it is the clearest. When we have this perfected, our group of Senior Podiatrists can mentor a greater number of Juniors, in a more effective and efficient fashion. The Seniors are volunteers.

I have decided to edit a book called, "The COMPENDIUM of Practice Management
for the New Doctor". We take contributions and suggestions from the Seniors.

Topics include:

  • Setting up a Practice
  • Office Leases..."Standard is not standard"
  • Forms
  • Informed Consents
  • Material Risks
  • employment contracts
  • contracts
  • OSHA manual
  • OSHA check list
  • Malpractice prevention
  • DM hints, etc
  • Hints and Pearls
  • Supplies
  • Vendors and list of cheapest supplies per vendor
  • coding
  • Medicare
  • Diabetes shoe program
  • more

I am always looking for suggestions on what else to include. I will send a
request to the copyright holders for permission to Xerox.

The cost will be FREE. But, we will require that they reimburse me for
Xeroxing and Postage. And, as this is a SHARING program from the Seniors to
the Juniors, we require that the podiatrist show that he, in tern, has
helped a Podiatrist or Organized Podiatry.

Since I started this venture, I noticed something interested. I stopped hearing "Podiatrist eat their young". Both the Seniors and the Juniors feel a sense of "community" where sharing and cooperation is starting.

On a personal note, may I thank you for a wonderful job you are doing as President.

Richard
