APMA

You know, as the orthopods do after us...nurses and PT do wound care, PT do orthotics and even lecture on the subject (reading from Root et al.) we as podiatrists sit and bite each other. You are right, I quit the APMA long ago since I felt I was paying dues but they only stuck by the old boys of the profession who were trying to kill the young.

I have read the Brian Gale story and I know others have had the same problem. I love podiatry but feel I am riding a sick horse, it hurts to say that. I wish the profession could stick together on building ourselves.

The MD and DO stick together, rarely would they try to hurt another member of the profession. If they had a problem, they would discuss it in private with the guy/gal. Pods will file complaint against each other in a public way. This ranges from boards to hospital privileges.

So what to do? Are the members of our profession just too immature? Is there anything to do? I don't have the answer....

I think if enough of us pushed to change the mind set of the schools and APMA maybe could save the profession. Also, all podiatry groups internationally should be together on things, since I have heard the problems we in the USA have are also seen overseas.
